About this Petition

The Reality

Bangladesh's Ready-Made Garment (RMG) sector employs over 4 million workers, mostly women, who work long hours in difficult conditions. The current minimum wage of 12,500 BDT (approximately $115) is insufficient for a dignified life.

Cost of Living Crisis

  • Average rent in Dhaka industrial areas: 5,000-8,000 BDT/month
  • Basic food costs for a family: 10,000+ BDT/month
  • Transportation: 2,000 BDT/month
  • Healthcare, education, savings: Impossible on current wages

Economic Justification

  • Garment exports reached $47 billion in 2024
  • Industry profits continue to grow
  • Major brands like H&M, Zara, and Nike can afford fair wages
  • A living wage is 25,000 BDT minimum

Support Our Workers

Bangladesh built its economy on the backs of garment workers. They deserve fair compensation for their essential labor.
